Do you struggle with anger? In the healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu® we learn fear is the real issue beneath the other attitudes of worry, anger, sadness, and “trying to.” The fear associated with anger is fear you won’t get what you want.
What prevents you from getting what you want? First, not knowing what you want. You might stumble into something that aligns to you but until you are conscious of what you desire, it’s impossible to reliably draw what is most personally rich and resonant toward you.
Or maybe you get in your own way. Either you don’t give yourself permission to have what you want telling yourself things like “I’m not important,” “Other people come first,” “To attend to my own wants and needs would be selfish,” or perhaps you constantly raise the bar on what you want leaving yourself perpetually dissatisfied and frustrated.
Or perhaps you feel others prevent you from getting what you want. Fortunately or unfortunately, it’s always an inside job. If you perceive people are in your way or thwarting you, it may be an opportunity for you to step into your own authority and power around your wants and needs.
So what is the antidote? Pay attention to what you want and need, let yourself have it, and remember others aren’t responsible for your happiness, you are. While you play with giving yourself more latitude to have what you want, you can hold your middle finger to harmonize the anger when it surfaces.
